Pensions – Pleasant or Painful?

Updated: Jul 10, 2021

The days of having one job in your career are rare these days and most people will have multiple employers during their career. Many of the clients that I speak to and meet have multiple pensions from their time with each employer.

Unfortunately, due to the lack of advice and education around investing, they end up in funds that may or not be suitable and investment strategies that may or may not be appropriate.

My typical client will store their pension information in a box or file, where they remain until they one day think that they really should do something about these pensions and at that point they look to either receive guidance from an organisation such as Pension Wise or want to go a step further and receive regulated financial advice.

The world of pensions and investing can be alien for a lot of the clients I speak and meet with and part of my role as a Financial Planner is not only to advise but also to educate my clients on the benefits of pensions and investing, so they feel more confident and in control of their future plans.

Pensions and investing does not need to feel painful given the tax advantages of pensions and the significant changes to how you can now access your pension benefits. There are so many pleasant aspects of pensions today and receiving regulated financial advice can help you maximise the power of them and make sure that your plans for retirement are realised rather than leaving it to chance.
